One moment you’re standing next to a massive steam engine that ruled the rails nearly a century ago; then you find yourself in a luxurious saloon car that carried presidents across Europe; then you’re sitting in the engineer’s seat, imagining what it is like to guide hundreds of tons of steel down the tracks. A New Chapter Begins
České dráhy began operating historical train rides and exhibits under the ČD Nostalgie brand in 1999. The Nadační fond Svět železnice was then created in January 2026, and it is gradually taking over care and maintenance of more than 430 pieces of rolling stock at 16 locations across the Czech Republic.
Mission
We refuse to let rail history sit abandoned in forgotten depots and displays. We want people to see, hear, touch, and understand these treasures that have been preserved for all of us.
We care and maintain the craftsmanship of our forbearers and bring it to a modern public. We restore historic rail cars, helping them to return to the tracks and bring their stories to children, families, and rail lovers of all ages.
That is the reason we created this independent endowment fund that can oversee and maintain our rail heritage for generations to come with the required knowledge and resources.
